Speaking of the hidden sins of pornography and marital infidelity, Dr. Albert Mohler, President of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lousiville, Kentucky spoke on this topic to the men of Boyce College in 2004. If you have a problem with pornography, know someone with a problem with pornography or just want to be prepared to deal with the issue, please listen to this sermon. Dr. Mohler is quite graphic with the subject, but I think it is required for the subject matter.
I have never heard it described as Dr. Mohler did.
One thing he said, “Pornography is a slander against the goodness of God’s creation and a corruption of this good gift God has given his creatures out of his own self-giving love. To abuse this gift is to weaken, not only the institution of marriage, but the fabric of civilization itself. To choose lust over love is to debase humanity and to worship the false god Priapus in the most brazen form of modern idolatry.”
I knew it was wrong, but I had never realized it was idolatry.
